October Update

October has been a busy month.  Russ has been away A LOT. Work has gotten much busier.  Holidays are coming, which means it’s only going to get even more busy.  Despite being busy and Russ being gone more than Id like, overall it has been a pretty good month.

We have gotten to spend some time with, my old friends and Russ’ new friends, Chris and Leslie.. and their adorable beautiful little girl Addy.

Jamie and I (and the boys) have gotten to hang out a bunch.  It is great to have a friend close by that I can really talk to, and have fun with, and eat and talk about food, and go to a chick flick movie with.

Russ had a relaxing week finally.  The last week in October he got off very very early, which was great because he actually got to rest and we got to spend some quality time together.  He got me cheesecake from the cheesecake factory.  He convinced me to do P90x (I’ve only done a couple days but it was good).  We ate at our favorite place, Angie’s subs... and there was a groupon for it!

My Home
is finally complete!  In preparation for the holidays we finally got a dining room table.  I LOVE IT.  It is just great to not have this big open space in our home.  It feels complete now.  And I’m looking forward to having “family” dinners.  I have such fond memories when growing up of sitting with family and friends and the dinner table and just talking and enjoying each other’s company.  I can’t wait to start some of those memories in our home.

Pumpkin Patch!
Hello Fall.  What a great time to re-live childhood memories and create new ones.  I think that’s why I love this time of year.  I have such great memories taking part in all the Fall/Winter activities: pumpkin carving, apple picking, pumpkin pie eating, turkey and gravy, Christmas decorating, hot chocolate drinking, cookie baking, fallen leaf pile jumping, snow ball fighting, joyous joyous time.

We picked out our pumpkins and carved that night.  They aren’t totally complete since Russ’ will be vomiting pumpkin innards, gross and funny and so him.

Russ contemplating the Best Pumpkin

I found my baby right away, perfect pumpkin

He found the one.. and He is Very Excited about it!

taking the carving very seriously.  I wish I had a picture of last year's pumpkin, he did the Florida Gator Emblem, boy was it detailed! and took him like 3 hours to do... let just say we learned from that and went the simple route this year

Pumpkin Seeds!!! I roasted them right after. So good!!

The final product (pumpkin vomit to be added on halloween night)

I’m feeling crafty!
I got all the supplies and I’m going to make a wreath.. How domestic is that!
It should look like this:

We’ll see how it goes.  We have a red door so I'm going with evergreen and white for a Christmas feel.  Update to follow.

Thanks to Rahel for the idea!

Life With A Toddler

Life with a little child.. a trial run (sort of)
Russ and I had the joy of having our friend Chelsea and her daughter Bella stay with us for two weeks.  We got to see what it would be like to have a miniature person running around like the crazy tornado that she is.  Those two weeks were filled with such fun and joy.  Play time.. and some cranky time.  Overall it was an amazing couple of weeks.  We are definitely looking forward to one day having a crazy little tornado of our own (in the future)

The Library.. no longer a quiet place
Bella's first visit to the library.  She was on sensory overload the whole time.. books.. toys.. new friends.  A bookworm in the making.

contemplating which books she should start pulling of the shelves and throwing them on the floor

A quiet moment

and let the craziness begin...

A Box.. the best toy a girl could have
I unpacked the chai tea latte that I just received in the mail and before I could set it on the table this little monkey climbed right into the box.  Packing peanuts were flying everywhere.  Ohhhh this brings me back to my childhood.

We probably could have left her in that box all day
 ATTACK!!!
The simple things can give such joy.  What a great reminder a child is of that.
Always look for the good in things and always always have fun.
