Weekend trip to Orlando

A couple weekends ago Russ was under way, and I had a weekend free.  What a perfect chance to get some good hang out time with my Aunt Bev in Orlando.  She has lived in Florida since as long as I can remember and growing up in NY she was always so far away I barely got to see her.  Now thankfully she is just under 2 hours away!   Looks like she is going to see me a lot more than once a year.

It became a pretty packed weekend quickly.  Before my mini Orlando road trip I met up with Jamie and her boys for Breakfast and a soccer game.

What an amazing start to the day.  Breakfast was so good (even though I could only eat certain things since my wisdom teeth were hurting.. yea yea, Ill get them out eventually).  I love grits and a good strip of bacon!  Then off to the soccer game.  Jamie and I sat on the bench, soaked up the sun, and watched the boys play all while just a hundred yards from the beach.  It still is weird for me being quite so close to the ocean.  Growing up it was just reserved for summer vacations and took hours to get to, now it’s a 5-10 min drive from the house.  Truly Blessed.

The boys (Brady and Reece) were cute as always (even though the coach wasn’t playing them enough, shame on him for having favorites in a group of 4-6 yr olds).  Anyway.  It was still a great morning and Im so glad I got to go and support them.

Off to ORLANDO!

To say my Aunt and I “get along” is an understatement.  I feel like we are the same sometimes.  Its amazing how little time we have seen each other, but how many similarities we have, likes, dislikes, what makes us laugh.  Its always such a joy to be around her and to chat.. and chat we do.  I cant even count how many hours we spent talking.  In between all that talking we did get out a little for a mini Orlando adventure…

..Off to a Vegan Restaurant for Dinner
The Dandelion
(its a little fuzzy but hey, its the best I could do since it was so dark outside)

My first vegan meal and it was AMAZING!  They had this stuff called “Whirled Peas”  which was almost like guacamole made with peas, and it looked and tasted just like it. So Good!!  Then a quinoa sweet potato burrito, some vegan chili, and some loose leaf red buttercup tea.  Now don’t get me wrong, Im a meat/dairy lover, but I really didn’t miss it because the food was so delicious.  It is definitely worth a try if you stumble upon a vegan restaurant.

…We drove a little around Orlando and stopped at a park around a lake.
Went for a nice walk, what perfect weather it was.

…Beautiful Fountain
..And saw a black swan

…Dessert Time

We stopped at one of those frozen yogurt places.  I forget the name of it but it had the best flavors and they were so good.  I had a coconut cream and then a pineapple guava with granola and fruit… and fruity pebbles (thanks to my friend Brooke that convinced me to try it another time, amazing)

We went back to the house, talked for some more, and went to bed.. way past my bedtime. But it was worth it.  The next morning I had my first taste of greek yogurt.  It’s not bad but I definitely need to get used to it.  It’s so creamy, almost too creamy, if that’s possible.   But still good.

Then off to her Church.  Such a great worship team and sermon.  Then before I headed home we stopped at Einstein bagels for a bacon egg n cheese on an everything bagel… I love bacon!.. cheese! .. and everything bagels!  I could have eaten 5 of them if my stomach would let me.  And I had a delicious cup of “Fall” coffee.  I love fall flavored things.

Headed Home to Jacksonville

Then Jamie, Brady, and Reece came over for dinner.  (I told you it was a busy weekend!)  We had pizza and these eggroll fried cheesecakes, played in the backyard on the swings, played soccer, watched ELF (a little bit of it), and the boys drew us some amazing pictures which are still on my fridge.

All in all a very Joyful weekend.  I do wish my husband was there with me to enjoy it, but I’m thankful that I got to at least tell him all about it when he got back.  Although he wasn’t as excited about the vegan restaurant as I was.
